Projects

Karen Kirkland works with a wide variety of companies and individuals on many different projects.

Shropshire Music Service provides instrumental, vocal and curriculum support for schools throughout Shropshire. The aim of the Music Service is to provide, develop and support the highest quality of music education in Shropshire and to give young people performing opportunities in schools and in the community.

One Day One Choir is a global choral initiative, starting in 2014, which has been created to mobilise the inspiring and harmonious power of singing together to unite people globally to sing for peace on and around Peace Day, September 21st. Karen's song " A Peace Blessing" for choir or unison, solo voice is dedicated to this inspiring project. Click on the article title for more information.

Helping develop strong links between business and education. Highlights include: The creation of Tânni and Friends characters, developed originally for the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, that are now being presented to schools across Wales by all regional Fire and Rescue Services.Tânni was recently featured on the BBC as part of a programme about the Fire and Rescue Service.

TFO brings together musicians of all ages to play original music for film, TV and gaming across the UK in orchestras, bands and choirs based in the West Midlands

WoW Project - Introducing children and young people to the world of work using a range of fun interactive group sessions.

This amazing choir, the "Fron" was formed in 1947 to compete in the now world renowed Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. The choir have a reputation for excellence home and aboard.

Forging Ahead project 2024

Forging Ahead 2024 is an arts project led by Shropshire Music Service and funded by Arts Council England. The project involves 3 local primary schools close to the Ironbridge Gorge, John Wilkinson Primary and Nursery, Broseley C of E primary and Barrow 1618 C of E Free School. Karen has composed 2 songs for this exciting project, Broseley the Dragon and a song about the Coalport Ferry Disaster of 1799.

Of One Accord is a mixed voice choir based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. The choir have premiered many of Karen's choral works. Karen regularly performs and composes for this wonderful choir. Karen's carol "Hear the angels sing" is a regular piece in the choirs christmas repertoire. They have also premiered "Futility" based on the poem by Wilfred Owen, and "Seafever" based on the poem by John Masefield.

Music Mark is a membership organisation for Music Services and/or lead organisations of a Music Education Hub, their teaching and support teams, their partners and their schools. They support the wider music education sector, to deliver high quality musical and social outcomes for all children and young people.

Sing Up is an award- winning organisation providing the complete singing package for schools through resources, training and guidance. Sing Up believes that all children and young people have a right to good quality singing provision, to deepen their understanding of music and singing, raise attainment and develop lasting tools to express themselves with confidence and creativity.

Shropshire Music Education Hub is a group of organisations whose collective aim is to promote and faciliate high quality musical learning and experiences throughout the county. The Hub receives funding from central government via Arts Council England in order to deliver opportunities as laid out by the National Plan for Music Education(NPME).

Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass is a 2nd section Brass Band straight out of the 'Shire', with their base being the Parish Hall in the sleepy town of Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire, UK.
